Worship Together
Sunday services have a mostly traditional feel with an emphasis on the Revised Common Lectionary. Hymns are mostly taken from the hymn book, Together in song, but not exclusively. We often sing wonderful hymns by John Bell, Marty Haugen, Fay White (one of our own) and others, which are not included in Together in Song.
At Castlemaine Church, a different style of service called Creative Worship is offered on the fourth Sunday of the month when the music is organised by some of the abundantly talented musicians in the Parish.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. Several times a year we hold what we call Seed Sunday in which a leader from a local community group presents a talk its work.
Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter, Pentecost and All Saints are highlights in the Church year.
Sunday services are held at Harcourt Church at 9.00 am and at Castlemaine Church at 10.30 am. The minister has to be careful with her timing to get from the end of the Harcourt service to Castlemaine on time!
Morning tea is held after the service and everyone is welcome, newcomers and visitors especially.
If you are visiting for the first time it is a tradition in our Parish to give you a candle to take away with you.
Children are especially welcome at Sunday worship and are actively included in the service.
The Parish fully adheres to the Safe Church policy and practices of the Uniting Church. Synod of Victoria and Tasmania.
Sermons are recorded and made available online at this location.
Prayer meetings are held at Castlemaine at 11.00 am on Tuesday throughout the year.
For people in residential care or at home and unable to join us at Sunday worship, we provide a weekly devotional sheet based on the bible readings for the following Sunday. It can be accessed on our news page here.
For people who want to explore their spirituality in company and away from structured services we offer Sipwell and Yandoit Sacred.
